A demo shows what a device looks like. A good evaluation shows how it performs during your busiest hour, when signal is poor, during a refund, or when there’s a problem with the register. Write down your answers in advance and have each vendor assess the same situation.
A payment terminal that makes checkout a breeze for both your customers and your team
Take stock of your current card mix and keep your target audience in mind. Bancontact and common debit and credit cards are often important, but meal vouchers, eco-vouchers, international cards, and digital wallets sometimes require separate activation.
Have the rates and payouts confirmed for each method. A logo on a general brochure is no guarantee that the method is active in your contract and device configuration.
Check Ethernet, Wi-Fi, 4G, SIM card, roaming, and fallback. Test coverage throughout the entire facility and at locations where the device is actually used. Ask what the terminal displays when the connection is temporarily lost.
Redundancy is important for business-critical payments. This could be a second connection, an additional terminal, a SoftPOS, or a clear alternative payment procedure.

Don’t just ask, “Can it be integrated?”—also ask which POS version, connector, and provider are required. Have them demonstrate payment transfers, status updates, cancellations, and timeouts. Determine who will provide support if the integration fails.
A future POS migration could affect compatibility. Consider your planned software choices before signing a long-term hardware contract.
You can read more about this integration in "Connecting Kassa to a Payment Terminal.".
Make a note of support hours, channels, and escalation procedures. Ask whether remote access is possible, what information you need to have ready, and what the expected procedure is in the event of a malfunction. A general phone number is not the same as a team that is familiar with your system.
OmEs pay offers technical support seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and checks both the terminal and the POS integration within the agreed-upon configuration.
Choosing the right terminal means ensuring a clear fit between the workstation, cards, cash register, network, contract, and support. By defining these elements in advance, you can avoid surprises that end up costing much more than a small price difference between devices.
OmEs pay uses your actual situation to compare terminals and plans. You’ll receive a concrete proposal with terms, integrations, and support clearly laid out side by side.
